What happens when an artist enters a company?
What has not only been explored in theory but above all tested in practice is the international project SMATH, which from January to May 2020 allowed six artists to enter as many companies in the Veneto region with a funded artistic residency.
Thus, the international project ‘Smart Atmospheres of social and financial innovation for innovative clustering of creative industries in the Med area’ (Interreg Med 2014-2020 programme), led by the Veneto Region together with the Department of Management of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, has reached its climax. The scientific head of the project is Professor Fabrizio Panozzo, lecturer at the Department.
Thanks to SMATH, more than twenty companies worked together with numerous artists, in a shared path that eventually gave shape and substance to a true ‘creative nest’: a community within which the reciprocal exchange between the two worlds enabled them to embrace the opportunities and at the same time the challenges offered by the encounter.
Thirteen project ideas were submitted, of which the six winners will be rewarded with a grant to the artists to support their residency in the company, during which they will develop the project.
The winners are: D20 Art Lab with Electrolux spa, Kensuke Koike with Contarina spa, Studio Tonnato with F/Art srl, Špela Volčič with Idea Nostra cooperative, Alessio Ballerini and Simona Sala with Verlata cooperative, Teoria&Preda with Gv3 Venpa spa.
