New life to the world of performing

In the Veneto region there has been an increasing trend to increase professional and training needs in the cultural and creative industries and in particular in the entertainment sector. The Dedalus project has been developed precisely to provide technical and professional skills functional for inclusion in the regional production system or for the refinement of knowledge and skills specific to professional figures already active.

The project, managed by the Ca’ Foscari University Venice Foundation, is the result of the first structured collaboration with the Ca’ Foscari Theater. The live performance sector in the Veneto region, according to the latest available data, employs 7,457 people, with a decrease in the three-year period from 2011 to 2013 of 2.7 percent, largely borne by artistic figures. On the other hand, however, there is growing demand and interest, from companies in all sectors, in ‘creatives’ and operators capable of handling multimedia content.

New opportunities are opening up for executive producers and festival managers, while professional figures such as the ‘corporate video storyteller,’ the ‘live performance marketing manager,’ the ‘site-specific performer,’ the ‘dance trainer,’ and the ‘form-actor,’ capable of doing training and consulting in companies through theatrical techniques, are emerging.

Dedalus during 2017 activated a sequence of courses for small classes of professionals, as well as workshops, meetings and study visits abroad.
